Direction is information architecture

Changing dir to rtl solves important browser behavior, but it does not decide where hierarchy begins, how a mixed email address reads or which side should hold a persistent action.

We treat locale direction as an input to composition. Text alignment, navigation order, progress motion and the location of explanatory labels are reviewed together.

Mirror behavior, not every shape

A back arrow should follow reading direction. A diagram that represents a real pipeline may keep its causal direction and instead localize its labels and explanation.

Spatial scenes need the same judgment. Mirroring the camera path mechanically can turn a balanced composition into an obstructed one.

  • Use semantic dir and lang at the document root
  • Isolate emails, code and numbers with bidi-safe markup
  • Test keyboard order independently from visual order
  • Review motion for directional meaning

Persian deserves its own rhythm

Font metrics, line length and punctuation density differ. Persian often needs more line height and different measure to feel as calm as the English version.

Equal polish means the content can differ in length while the hierarchy remains equal—not forcing a literal word-for-word box match.
